• Prevent Salt Water Ingestion: Drinking sea salt water can make your dog very sick. Bring plenty of fresh, clean drinking water and a portable bowl to keep them hydrated throughout the day.
• Rinse Off After Swimming: Salt and sand can cause severe skin and paw irritation. Always rinse your dog with fresh water after a swim, and dry their ears to prevent infections.
• Protect the Paws: Asphalt, boardwalk planks, and sand can get incredibly hot during the summer months. Test the surface with the back of your hand before walking your dog, and consider protective paw wax or booties if necessary.
