In-Home Puppy Training
in
North Arlington, NJ

A new puppy can learn “sit” in the kitchen, then seem to forget it as soon as someone rings the doorbell. That’s completely normal. Puppies need practice in the places where you want them to listen. K9 Nanni’s in-home puppy training brings private lessons to your home, where you and your pup can work on everyday manners together.

Our package includes three sessions, typically spaced one to two weeks apart. That gives you time to practice between visits and get help with the moments that don’t go quite as planned.

What’s Included in the In-Home Puppy Package?

Your K9 Nanni trainer will work with your puppy where many early challenges happen: at home. Training can cover:

🐾 Basic cues such as sit, down, come, stay, wait, leave it, and drop it
     🐾 Household manners and boundaries
🐾 Leash walking and impulse control
🐾 Confidence building for shy or nervous puppies
🐾 Mild behavior concerns you want to address early
‍
Our In-Home Puppy Package is $1,200 plus tax and includes training tools. Each private training visit lasts approximately one to two hours, depending on your puppy and the skills you’re working on. Between visits, you can practice what you’ve learned and bring new questions to your trainer.

How the Three Sessions Work

1. First session: Get started at home
‍
‍
Your trainer meets your puppy and begins work on basic obedience. Along with teaching cues, you can talk through the routines you want to establish, whether that means waiting at the door or settling down while the family eats. The goal is to give both you and your puppy a clear place to start.

2. Second session: Work on leash manners
‍
‍
At the second visit, you’ll revisit the skills you’ve practiced and begin working on walks. If your puppy pulls toward every interesting smell or loses focus as soon as you step outside, your trainer can help you practice in the places you walk together.

3. Third session: Build on your progress
‍
‍
The final session follows up on your puppy’s training and builds on the skills you’ve practiced between visits with a socialization class at our North Arlington facility. During the class, your trainer will carefully introduce your puppy to balanced dogs that are a good match for their age, size, and temperament. Your puppy will gradually spend time with the group while learning how to read cues from other dogs, respond appropriately, and develop good dog-to-dog manners.

Why Train Your Puppy at Home?

During in-home visits, K9 Nanni trainers can see the situations you deal with every day. They can watch how your puppy responds to the front door, practice a cue in your living room, or help you get started on the sidewalk outside. You can then use those same spaces to practice between sessions.

Private puppy obedience training also gives you time to ask about your own puppy. If they’re shy, easily distracted, or still figuring out the household routine, your trainer can adjust the lesson to what they’re ready to learn. We use a positive approach tailored to each dog.

How Do In-Home Lessons Fit
With Puppy Training Classes?

Puppy training classes give young dogs a structured place to practice around other dogs. At home, the focus is on your puppy, your family, and the habits you want to build into daily life.

Our package pairs three private lessons at home with a separate socialization class at K9 Nanni in North Arlington. During the class, we slowly introduce your puppy to carefully selected dogs so they can learn how to read social cues, interact appropriately, and develop good doggy etiquette. Puppies must be at least four months old and fully vaccinated to participate in the socialization class.

FAQs About Puppy Training

When to begin training a puppy?

Puppies can begin K9 Nanni’s in-home training program as early as eight weeks old. You can start teaching simple cues and household routines as soon as your puppy comes home. Keep practice short, reward the behavior you want to see, and give your puppy time to learn.

How do you train a puppy to walk on a leash?

Begin somewhere quiet and reward your puppy for staying close while the leash is loose. Practice a few steps at a time before trying longer walks with more distractions. We cover leash manners during the second in-home session, so you can work on walks in your own neighborhood.

When to start puppy classes?

K9 Nanni’s socialization class is available to puppies beginning at four months old once they have received all required vaccinations. The class is designed for young puppies who are still developing their social skills. By around eight months, puppies are already beginning to mature, so contact us if you have an older puppy and want to discuss the right training option.

Is there puppy training near me if I live outside North Arlington?

K9 Nanni offers in-home puppy training within approximately a 30-minute drive of our North Arlington facility. Contact us with your address to confirm service in your area. We can also travel to New York City for an additional travel fee.

How do you train your puppy to sit?

Hold a treat near your puppy’s nose and move it slowly upward. As your puppy follows it, their bottom may lower to the floor. Reward the sit, then practice in short sessions. Once your puppy understands the movement, you can begin adding the verbal cue.

How do you train a puppy to come when called?

Start close to your puppy in a quiet space. Say their name and your recall cue, then reward them when they reach you. Build up to longer distances gradually. Your trainer can help you practice recall and other cues during your puppy’s obedience lessons.

How much does puppy training cost at K9 Nanni?

Our In-Home Puppy Package costs $1,200 plus tax. It includes three private in-home sessions, usually spaced one to two weeks apart, training tools, and a separate socialization class at our North Arlington facility. Each private session lasts approximately one to two hours.
